URBAN ABSTRACT PHOTOGRAPHY
Even as a young child, I was attracted to urban scenes, to the mélange of colors, shapes, and textures that define both urban decay and renewal. Over time I started seeing "street art" that was often unintended but as artful as any deliberate or commissioned work. I've been particularly fascinated by the work of mural artists and how fragments of murals, graffiti, and more naturally occurring elements create a netherworld of landscapes and brain-catching forms. My playground might be a junk heap, crumbling wall, graffiti or the play of light on a stairwell. And my scene might not be a truly urban one – I also find these images in the alleys, renovations, and decay of smaller environments—mini cities.
